1. Could you tell us your story on dropping down?

When I was in high school, I used two arm angles. One overhand and one sidearm. My first two years of college they wanted me to throw strictly over the top. I asked if I could drop down a couple times but we decided against it. I had struggled my first two collegiate years, so we decided my junior year we would try both arm angles again. I had some success so I stuck to it!

 2. What are some of the advantages you have from your arm angle?

When I was in college, I decided wanted to be as deceptive as I could be. I wanted to have the mind set that I wanted to dominate lefties, and throwing sidearm was the best way to achieve that goal.

 3. If you didn't drop down, do you think you would have had the same success?

I defiintely would not have had the same success without dropping down. I do not wish I had dropped down earlier because I learned how to pitch when I was struggling. When I was throwing over the top, I had to learn how to use locations and change of speeds to have success. That transitioned over into helping me once I dropped down.

4. What would you tell someone debating on changing their arm angle?

I would tell someone to ride out throwing over the top as long as they can. Even when you’re struggling, learn from it and develop. Use each failure as a lesson. And once you drop down, be fully committed into being a sidearmer.

5. Are there any mechanical tips that you'd give to someone throwing sidearm/submarine?

The only mechanical tip that I would give is to stay sidearm and find a slot that is comfortable. There is nothing worse than trying to throw competitively when you’re uncomfortable with every pitch you throw.

6. What pitches do you throw?

throw fastball, change up and slider. Fastball can be anywhere between 85-90. Change up has to have same arm speed and spin on the ball to be a successful pitch.

 7. How do you pitch to lefties/righties?

I work mostly fastball and change up to righties. Will also mix in a slider when needed. Lefties I work mostly fastball and slider mix.

8. What is your favorite part about pitching from down there?

I enjoy being different. This game is tough enough as it is, so Im going to use everything I can to differentiate myself from other pitchers. In return giving myself the best opportunity to pitch in the big leagues for a long time.
