1. Could you tell us your story on dropping down?
I made the transition to throwing submarine when I was in junior college. My freshmen fall campaign was "average" to put it lightly. I threw a very straight fastball with little command. I needed to make the roster so I made the transition to throwing submarine.
2. What are some of the advantages you have from your arm angle?
The biggest advantage is giving the hitters a different look. Throw in some deception and some good movement you've got a receipt for success.
3. If you didn't drop down, do you think you would have had the same success?
Absolutely would not of had the same success. I would not of made a junior college team if it was not for dropping my arm angle.
4. What would you tell someone debating on changing their arm angle?
I would say fully commit to changing your arm angle if you are going to do it. It is not something you can dabble with on and off. It will help your success but not if you do not trust it.
5. Are there any mechanical tips that you'd give to someone throwing sidearm/submarine?
Biggest thing is to keep your momentum headed towards home plate. It is very easy to get rotational or moving side to side trying to manipulate the baseball.
6. What pitches do you throw?
Fastball, slider, and change-up
7. How do you pitch to lefties/righties?
Inside, outside, up, and down
8. Lastly what is your favorite part about pitching from down there?
My favorite part about throwing submarine is the confidence it gives me out there on the mound. I feel like I can challenge any hitter with a fastball even in the biggest situations.
